A tour of the form builder

The form builder opens whenever you create a form or select one on the Forms page. Its address is app.kyraform.com/forms/<form id>/edit.

From left to right:

ControlWhat it does
Back to formsReturns to the Forms page. Your work is already saved.
Form nameSelect it to Rename form. This is the internal name, not the title respondents see.
Save statusAll changes saved on a draft. Published when the live form matches your edits. Published · unpublished changes when you’ve edited a live form but not republished. If a save fails you see Try saving again.
Canvas / Preview / SettingsSwitches the main area between building, filling the form as a respondent, and form settings.
Undo / RedoSteps back and forward through your edits. Shortcuts: Ctrl/⌘ Z to undo, Ctrl/⌘ Shift Z (or Ctrl Y on Windows) to redo. Everything you type in one box counts as one step.
Version historySaved versions of the form. Compare one with the current form and restore it. See Saving, undo and versions.
Open formOpens the live public form in a new tab. Only shown once the form is published.
PublishRuns the publish check and makes the current version live.

Ask AI, at the bottom right of the builder, opens the AI assistant: describe any change, such as “only show company if they are employed”, and it is applied straight away. See Create and edit forms with AI.

If your role or share lets you see the form but not edit it, the builder opens with a View-only access banner and a link to Open results.

The canvas shows the form the way respondents read it, top to bottom.

  • Form title and description sit at the top. The title is what respondents see as the heading. The description is optional.
  • Each question is a card. Select a card to open its editor. See Adding and editing questions.
  • Add opens the Add a question picker. It’s searchable, and Enter adds the first match.
  • Drag a card by its handle (Drag to reorder) to move it.
  • On multi-step forms the canvas is grouped by step, and questions not placed on any step appear under Unassigned. See Layout & steps.

A collapsed card shows a one-line summary of what’s set on it, for example:

SummaryMeaning
Only shown when …It has a visibility condition.
Answer must be …It has validation rules.
Checked against …It uses external validation.
Filled from …It’s filled from another question or a link.
Shows a message: …It has a custom alert.
Accepts …File types a file upload allows.
Counted in the pollIt’s a vote question.
Correct answer …Quiz scoring is set.

Next to the canvas, Form setup keeps the form-wide settings you change most often within reach:

SectionContains
Type of formCollect answers, Poll or vote, Quiz or assessment or Survey. Changing it changes which settings and reports the form has.
StructureLayout and steps: single page or multi-step, one question at a time, progress style. See Layout & steps.
Quick settingsExpiration (when the form closes) and Bot protection. Each opens the matching settings section.
ActionsDuplicate form makes a copy you can change freely. Save as template adds it to your organization’s templates. Export JSON downloads the form definition, which you can bring back with Import JSON.

Preview shows the form exactly as respondents will see it, with your theme, steps, conditions, validation and calculations all working. Use it to test logic before publishing. Answers you type in Preview are not saved as responses.

Settings opens an Overview of every setting for this form, grouped into sections:
