Basic inputs

All of these questions have Placeholder and Default value in the Content tab, plus the common settings.

Text Input

A single line of text, such as a name, ID number, city or job title.

Validation rules: Min length, Max length, Regex pattern, Contains text, Does not contain, Starts with, Ends with, Exactly equals, Does not equal, URL format, Matches another field. Also Unique submission value.

Examples

• Employee ID like EMP-1234: Regex pattern ^EMP-\d{4}$, error message “Use the format EMP-1234”.
• Website: URL format.
• No duplicate registrations: turn on Unique submission value on the ID question.

Long Text

Several lines of text, for comments, descriptions and cover letters. The box grows as people type.

Validation rules: Min length, Max length, Regex pattern, Contains text, Does not contain, Matches another field.

Set Max length to keep answers focused, for example 500 characters. Respondents see an error if they go over.

Email

An email address. KyraForm always checks that it looks like a real address (name@domain), so you don’t need a rule for that.

Validation rules: Min length, Max length, Contains text, Does not contain, Exactly equals, Does not equal, Matches another field.

Confirm email

Add a second Email question called Confirm email, then add the rule Matches another field pointing at the first one. If the two differ, respondents see “Fields must match”, or your own message.

To accept only work addresses from one company, add Contains text @yourcompany.com.

Email questions are also used by respondent sign-in (Fill and lock this email question), duplicate-vote checks, and payments (Email Field).

Phone

A phone number with a country picker. The country code is stored with the number.

Setting	What it does
Default country	Preselected in the country picker.
Allowed countries	Limit the picker to these countries. Leave empty to allow all.

Validation rules: Min length, Max length, Regex pattern, Contains text, Does not contain, Exactly equals, Does not equal, Matches another field.

Address

A postal address split into parts, so you can filter and export by city or country.

Setting	What it does
Parts to ask for	Choose which of Address line 2, State / province, Postal code and Country to show. “Line 1 and city are always asked.”
Default country	Preselected country. India by default.
Allowed countries	Limit the country list.

When the question is Required, every part shown except line 2 must be filled in.

Postal codes are checked against the official format for India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, Singapore, the Netherlands and Japan (for example 6 digits not starting with 0 for India, and 12345 or 12345-6789 for the US). Any other country accepts any short code, so a real address is never turned away.

Number

A number. On phones the numeric keyboard opens.

Setting	What it does
Minimum / Maximum	The smallest and largest number allowed. Can be fixed, or linked to a variable.

Validation rules: Min value, Max value, Greater than (>), Less than (<), Greater than or equal (≥), Less than or equal (≤), Exactly equals, Does not equal, Matches another field.

Number answers can be used in calculations, for example quantity × price, and in payment amounts.
